Economy in Turkey: Which investment tool performed better this week — stocks, gold, Euro, or the Dollar?

The performance of investment instruments for this week has been revealed. Stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul gained an average of 3.37% on a weekly basis, while the USD/TRY increased by 0.10%. In contrast, the price of gold per gram fell by 1.85%, and the EUR/TRY saw a 1% decrease.

The BIST 100 index hit a weekly low of 8,566.62 and a high of 9,195.83, ending the week up by 3.37% at 9,184.82 points compared to the previous week’s close.

In Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, the selling price of 24-karat bullion gold per gram decreased by 1.85% to 2,975 TL, and the selling price of the Republic gold coin dropped by 2.03% to 20,182 TL. The quarter gold coin, which was 5,170 TL last weekend, fell by 3.62% to 4,983 TL.

This week, the U.S. dollar appreciated by 0.10%, reaching 34.3690 TL, while the Euro fell by 1% to 36.9560 TL.

Investment funds gained 0.41% this week, and pension funds rose by 0.69%. Among categories, the “mixed and variable” funds performed best, yielding 1.30%.
