The Ministry of Industry and Technology has approved a project called The “Floating Hotel” which will accommodate tourism, employment and vocational elements of EDREMIT municipality, in Van.

Within the project that will receive a support of TL 2 million a 3-storey hotel will be built on a ship. Students studying in the field of maritime and hotel management will be provided with internship opportunities.

While the decision was welcomed in the region, the Mayor stated that EDREMIT was a district that could offer unforgettable holiday opportunities with its historical and cultural riches as well as its nature.  The mayor said, “our floating hotel project combines elements of tourism, employment and vocational training. All three were designed to contribute. This is a concept that has few examples in Turkey and none in the region. Within this concept, the hotel will serve as a practice hotel where university and high school students studying in the field of hospitality will intern. The income generated here will be used in the fields of social assistance. It will be a great contribution to tourism in terms of providing a unique experience on the sea in terms of accommodation, restaurant – café services and collective organizations.”
