Professionals in the tourism sector have stated that Antalya has managed to receive about 1 million tourists in 2 months only despite covid-19 crisis. It is clear that many tourism regions of the world are experiencing this crisis in a similar way. In fact, many travel warnings have recently been issued for the most crowded tourist-area regions in the world.

Summer destinations such as Majorca, northern Spain, the coastal region of Croatia, the beaches of France, Bulgaria are grappling with bans and obstacles. Every one of them is trying to grab a small slice of the tourism cake and hold on to life with it. But the season is almost over, too.

Antalya has worked with full power to take control of the outbreak and to stop being a dangerous region and to bring hundreds of thousands of employees who were closed to their homes for months as soon as possible. Certificates were received, tourism professionals from abroad were invited during this painful period and promotional activities were increased.

Everyone tried to contribute as much as they could, to do something. For a city that broke a record in its 30-year history with 16 million tourists last year, the process and losses have been overwhelming. Considering the fact that not a single plane landed for 4 months, no hotels opened, one third of the year was real dark for the sector.

In July movement started gradually thanks to said effort and in August, as a result of efforts, and persuasion tours Antalya got back on the right track again. As a result number of tourists who have visited the city in last 2 months has exceeded 1 million.
