Following a spring and summer that were both hot and dry, all eyes are now turning to the fall and winter. With November upon us, the question of “when will it snow” is beginning to come up. Meteorology experts have issued warnings specifically for November. They state that a very serious cold air mass is expected between November 7th and 10th and that this cold air system could bring snow.

After experiencing scorching heat during the El Nino summer, Turkey is now expecting an El Nino winter. Experts are indicating that El Nino winter will bring snow to Turkey.

Many citizens are seeking an answer to the question, “When will it snow?” Experts believe that this year will see much colder and heavier snowfall compared to previous years.

Dr. Okan Bozyurt, a Geographer and Climate Scientist from Afyon Kocatepe University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, noted that Turkey received abundant rainfall in years when El Nino was in effect and emphasized the temperature details.

“In some El Nino years, we see that there is plenty of rainfall, but it is warm. In other El Nino years, we also observe abundant rainfall, but it is cold,” said Bozyurt, explaining what this year’s models indicate for Turkey as follows:

“I expect another significant cold air mass around November 7th-10th. This cold air system may bring snowfall. Following the cold and snowy days, milder weather will arrive. From December onwards, I expect heavy rainfall. In January and February, there may also be snowfall influenced by the sea. Around November 11th, another high-pressure system is expected. For about a week to 10 days, the temperature may be around or slightly above seasonal norms.”
