England in talks to move the Champions League final from Istanbul to England

It has been reported that UK Government is in talks to move the Champions League final from Istanbul to England after Turkey was placed on the travel red list. This report came after the news that Turkey had been added to red travel list of UK, casting doubt on whether Chelsea or Manchester City fans would be able to attend the final. After the two Premier League giants won their semi-final tie, UEFA was asked to move the final to Wembley Stadium.

It has also been reported that an agreement is expected to be reached as a result of ongoing negotiations between the UK government and UEFA,

An official speaking for a newspaper said “the Red List decision means fans should not go to Turkey. The federation is in talks with UEFA. We are very open about hosting the final but ultimately it is a decision that UEFA will make. Two English clubs will play the final. So we are looking forward to the coming news.” Both clubs were given 4 thousand tickets for the Istanbul final.

ENGLISH FANS SHOULD NOT GO TO ISTANBUL

British Transport Minister Grant Shapps said English fans should not travel to Istanbul for the Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea on May 29.
