Erdoğan: Every attack Turkey has faced, every struggle it has undertaken, has had an economic dimension too

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered messages related to the economy in his speech at the “Turkey Contractors Association Overseas Contractorship Services Success Awards Ceremony” held at a hotel in Ankara.

“THERE IS A COST, A BURDEN TO EVERY STRUGGLE”

Erdoğan noted that every period of the century-old republic had its own challenges, but he pointed out that the past decade, except for the founding period, had its own distinct place in history due to significant attacks.

President Erdoğan shared following: “Regardless of the appearance, every attack we have faced, every struggle we have undertaken, has had an economic dimension. We have come to these days by wrestling with the traps of those who want to keep Turkey in the grip of interest rates, exchange rates, and inflation. Some of our problems undoubtedly have economic foundations. However, I assure you that a significant portion of the difficulties we have faced in the economy were not purely economic but rather the result of games played with political motivations. As representatives of companies doing business abroad, I believe you can see this picture even more clearly.

It is absolutely not possible to accept the operations of entities that use methods they would never apply in their own countries, and to deem these operations innocent and reasonable. Fortunately, just as we have achieved gains in political struggles with our own strength, we are also continuing our path in the economy by developing measures in line with our own realities. Of course, every struggle comes with a cost, a burden. There is such a background behind the economic challenges we are experiencing today.”

President Erdoğan emphasized that they once again witnessed attempts to shape the country’s politics through the economy ahead of elections, stating, “We have left behind the period when billions of dollars were used, a time when lies, misinformation, and speculation ran rampant. Now, we have both anchored the ship of Turkey to its goals, as I mentioned just before, and we have put into action the measures and mechanisms that will restore the economy.”
