The Turkish embassy in Berlin built with the inspiration of Seljuk and Ottoman architecture is the biggest Turkish embassy building in the world.

Erdoğan who delivered a speech at the inauguration placed emphasis on Turkish-German friendship. He said the place where the new embassy stands was where the first Ottoman embassy was built in Berlin with the Ottomans’ ambassador İbrahim Hakkı Pasha having taken over the ownership of the property in 1918 and he considered the new building in terms of its past as the symbol of Turkey’s friendly relations with German whose foundations go far back into history.

Erdoğan addressed the citizens of Turkish origin and called on them to integrate with Germany’s social life and texture without having any fears.

He said behind them all was the Republic of Turkey with a strong say in the world , a powerful economy and an active foreign policy adding that they were going to be the most powerful, most influential and most dynamic community in Europe so long as they stuck together in unity and solidarity.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also called on the German government to do whatever it could to bring racist attacks to a halt.

He said further that Turkey expected those ruthless murders which also caused outrage in German society to be completely unravelled as soon as possible.

Erdoğan who attended a panel organized by the Nikolas Berggürüm Institute on ” Europe Beyond the Crisis ” delivered a speech and gave some importante messages to the EU.

He said Turkey wanted to join the EU not to be a burden to the Union but to take burden off it , noting that the EU did not want to understand Turkey, though Turkey was still determined and continued doing its homework to join the bloc without being an extra burden on it.

He also spoke reproachfully and expressed unease over Turkey not having been invited to attend the EU leaders’ summit.

When asked what Turkey was going to do if it was not admitted into the EU until 2023, Prime Minister Erdoğan said if they tried putting Turkey off for such a long time they would lose Turkey because Turkey had already started setting its targets for 2071.
