Turkey’s tourism revenues fall in 3rd quarter 2012

Although Turkey has been the new star in the world of Tourism and it shown a perfomance to threaten the leading position of Greece and Spain in Europe some it has been reported that 3rd quarter tourism figures were not very promising for the country.

Turkish Statistics Institute has reported  as follows;

In the third quarter of 2012 (July, August and September) Turkey’s tourism income decreased 4.1% compared to the same period of the previous year and was recorded to be US$ 8,957,384,000

79.2 percent of this revenue was obtained from foreign visitors and 20.8 percent from citizens residing abroad.

It was found that visitors mostly preferred individual visits or package tours. Of the total spendings thus realized in Turkey, individual visits account for US$ 6,792,000,000, whereas package tours account for US$ 2,165,361,000.
