Erdogan to smokers: They are hungry, they go around miserably but they don’t refrain from buying cigarettes

“Starting from our own close circle, we warn everyone we encounter about the harm of tobacco products, and even confiscate a cigarette package, if any” AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the World Tobacco-Free Day Youth Gathering.

Erdogan spoke at the World Tobacco-Free Day Youth Gathering held at the Presidential Palace.

“WE ARE CONSTANTLY INCREASING TAXES ON CIGARETTES”

He said that they were constantly increasing taxes on cigarettes and added, “They are also very uncomfortable about this. We are increasing both in alcoholic drinks and in cigarettes as well. They are hungry (meaning cannot reach food), they go around miserably, but they do not back down from buying cigarettes it. They do not refrain from buying RAKI or beer.”

ERDOGAN HAD SAID, “THERE IS NO ONE HUNGRY, IN TURKEY”

AKP President Erdoğan had made said remark at the opening of the DEIK Head Office and the Respect for Masters Award Ceremony on May 27 and said, “Someone comes out and says ‘we are hungry’, don’t be unscrupulous! There is no one who is hungry. Be honest at this point, be sincere.”
