Erdogan: We can mediate to help establishment of peace between Russia and Ukraine

AK Party President Erdogan has said regarding the ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine. “We can mediate the decimation of peace between Russia and Ukraine.” Regarding the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine, President Erdogan said, “We cannot accept the transformation of the issue between Russia and Ukraine to negative consequences. We can mediate between Russia and Ukraine to ensure peace prevails.

Erdogan made evaluations on the agenda after his visit to the Museum of Islamic Civilizations at the Camlica Mosque. He said that relations between Russia and Turkey were continuing in peace like never in history before and continued as follows: “Developments such as the violation of the border between Russia and Ukraine in the region, the violation of border between Russia and Ukraine or outbreak of war would create a violation for the peace of the region. This would decisively disturb this region and we do not accept the emergence of unrest between Russia and Ukraine which has a population of 40 million people today.”

Our relations with Russia are continuing very well. Russia-Turkey relations continue to develop… The same applies to our relations with Ukraine… We cannot accept that these positive developments will turn into a negative situation between Russia and Ukraine. We can mediate between Russia and Ukraine for peace to prevail. We have expressed our readiness to do our part in this matter.

I have a visit program to Ukraine ahead of me. In the meantime, there may be communication with Mr. Putin, but maybe on the phone, or maybe a visit to Moscow. We want peace to prevail in the region.”
