Experts in the tourism sector believe (and hope) 2022 will be a much more fruitful year for Turkey in tourism. In fact, they expect the country to host at least 40 million tourist to bring in USD 30 billion revenue. They note that Turkey ranked 6th in the world in terms of the number of tourists it hostedd in 2019, adding that the targets should be much bigger for 2022.  They say Turkey will most likely be in the top 3 of the world ranking.”

Some professionals in the sector also share following statements:

“As Turkey, we have just started using our hotels in tourism. In the past, Turkey was known only for its sea, sand and sun tourism and now it announces its diversity in tourism to the world. Turkey has started to present gastronomy, history and cultural tourism to the world stage. Apparently the futre is destined to be much more successful for Turkey.

And based on these assumptions and judging on records from the past we should I think that there will be 30 billion dollars in revenue and 40 million tourists in Turkey for 2022 at the weakest. In 2019, the country received 45 million tourists bringing in $ 35 billion in revenue. Still, the level of 50 million tourists and 40 billion dollars in 2022 would not be a big surprise.

It is also worth reminding at this point that Turkey was among the leading countries that best managed the pandemic process in tourism. A very good marketing process was also carried out during this period.”
