The President of the Turkish Monopoly Dealers Platform has denied the claim that the Philips Morris group had received a 5 lira increase in cigarettes. The President shared the current prices of cigarettes in the Philip Morris group on Twitter.
He said that the price list that was circulated on social media in a short time and that the 5 lira hike for cigarettes was fake, “The fake cigarette price hike was shared as 5 lira. Still, although don’t be surprised if it happens” he said.
In the fake price list circulated on social media, it was seen that the price of 15.5 TL cigarette had been increased to 20.5 TL and the 19 TL cigarette had been increased to 24 TL.
Stating that they had met with senior officials of cigarette companies and that the hike would be high, Aybaş said the hike could be declared after the minimum wage announcement. Referring to the hike rate that expected, Akbaş shared following: “According to the information we have received, although it is not certain, it is said that there will be a 30 percent hike in cigarette prices.”
