Ferry services start between Izmir and Lesbos Island of Greece

Friday Dec June 17, it was reported that It has been reported that the ferry service between Izmir and the island of Lesbos would start on Saturday, June 17. Tunç Soyer, mayor of Izmir and mayor of Mytilene Stratis Kytelis met at the Fair in Izmir. During the meeting, which was attended by Despoina Balkiza, the Consul General of Greece in Izmir, ideas were exchanged. Soyer wanted the tickets of the Izmir-Lesbos line to be sold in Lesbos as well.

Soyer, who also requested a border gate visa application from Balkiza, said: “We don’t intend to make a profit. Just keeping this line alive is the biggest contribution we will make to these cities. We would like to see the same excitement from you.”

The Mayor of Lesbos, Kitelis, said: “We believe in the cooperation, friendship, brotherhood of the two peoples. Especially the two municipalities. That is the message of the people of Lesbos. We hope that this meeting will be a step forward in the direction of the two cities becoming sister cities. We are waiting for you in Lesbos.”

One-way fare will be 50 euros. The first ferry service between Izmir and Lesbos will depart from Alsancak Port at 09:30 on June 17. The ferry will arrive in Lesbos after a 2 hour and 45 minute journey and will depart from Lesbos and return to Izmir on June 19.
