Fethiye Municipality Creating Archaeo-Park in Kesikkapı Neighborhood

ARCHEO PARK IN FETHIYE

Fethiye Municipality is bringing the Archaeo-Park project to life by opening up the Amintas King’s tomb and rock tombs in the Kesikkapı Neighborhood for tourism. The preliminary meeting for the project was held with the participation of Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca. The project is being planned in collaboration with Fethiye Museum, the Telmessos Surface Research team, and municipal department heads.

Prof. Dr. İsa Kızgut, Head of the Department of Archaeology at Akdeniz University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nisa Yılmaz Erkovan, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alan Greaves will lead the project. The project is also supported by Gülşen Yegen, who works on the preservation of cultural heritage.

Fethiye Municipality is establishing an Archaeo-Park in the Kesikkapı Neighborhood. The preliminary meeting for the project took place with the participation of Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca. The preliminary meeting for the Archaeo-Park project, which is of significant importance due to its potential to open up Kesikkapı Neighborhood’s Amintas King’s tomb and rock tombs for tourism and cultural tourism, was held with the participation of Fethiye Municipality, Fethiye Museum, the Telmessos Surface Research team, and municipal department heads.

Heading the Telmessos Surface Research efforts, Prof. Dr. İsa Kızgut of the Department of Archaeology at Akdeniz University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nisa Yılmaz Erkovan from Alanya Alattin Keykubat University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alan Greaves from the Department of Archaeology at Liverpool University are at the forefront of the project. Gülşen Yegen, a retired academic focused on the preservation of cultural heritage, is also involved in the project.
