FIFA suspended President of Spanish Football Federation who kissed female football player on lips
After defeating England 1-0 to win the World Cup, a controversy arose in Spain when Rubiales kissed the footballer Jenni Hermoso on the lips during the medal ceremony.
According to media, the FIFA disciplinary committee decided to investigate Rubiales’ behavior, which included kissing the player without her consent.
Rubiales was suspended from his duties for a period of 90 days pending the outcome of the disciplinary investigation.
Despite intense pressure from the Spanish government, women players, football clubs, and other officials, Rubiales had previously stated that he would not resign.
The Spanish Women’s National Team players had also announced a protest by refusing to participate in national matches as a response to Rubiales’ actions.
