The Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI) sent short messages to its subscribers, urging them to save water. According to ISKI data, the water reservoir fill level, which had reached its highest level at 48.58% on average in May this year, had dropped to 31.57%.

Subscribers received a short message on their mobile phones from ISKI, stating that the city had been experiencing exceptional drought for a long time.

The message highlighted that due to the excessive heat, water consumption is significantly higher than the average of previous years. It said, “As ISKI, we are working tirelessly to ensure uninterrupted water supply by taking all necessary measures. We can only overcome this difficult period through individual water conservation. Let’s practice conservation now while water is available; let’s use our water carefully to avoid running dry.”

Just like many other major cities in Turkey, Istanbul has been facing a prolonged drought issue.
