Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek commented on the inflation expectations data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), reflecting the expectations of citizens, market experts, and the real sector. He stated, “We foresee that inflation will fall within the CBRT’s forecast range by the end of the year.”

Şimşek said, “Although there has been a slight increase in inflation expectations compared to the previous month, there has been a significant improvement on an annual basis.”

He shared the following on his social media account:

“Although inflation expectations rose slightly compared to last month, there has been a notable improvement on an annual basis.

Over the past year, 12-month forward inflation expectations have dropped by 17 points among households, 15 points in the real sector, and 10 points among market participants.

All necessary steps are being taken to mitigate the impact of recent domestic and global developments on our economy.

In addition to the strengthening macroeconomic fundamentals resulting from the program we are implementing, tighter financial conditions and falling commodity prices will support the disinflation process.

We foresee that inflation will fall within the CBRT’s forecast range by year-end.”
