A tour boat carrying 115 passengers caught fire in Katrancı Bay in Fethiye, Muğla, on Thursday morning. Passengers, including children, were forced to put on life jackets and jump into the sea as the fire quickly spread through the boat.

Passengers Evacuated

The fire reportedly started in the kitchen area of the Toys Boat at around 11 a.m. The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

As flames rapidly engulfed the boat, all 115 passengers entered the water wearing life jackets. Coast Guard, coastal safety and medical teams were sent to the area after the emergency was reported.

Other boats in the bay also joined the rescue effort, helping to evacuate the passengers from the water.

No Loss of Life Reported

The tour boat was reportedly badly damaged by the fire and began to sink.

Initial reports indicate that there were no fatalities in the incident. An investigation has been launched to determine how the fire started.

The incident highlights the importance of safety measures on Turkey’s busy coastal tour boats, particularly during the summer season when thousands of visitors take daily boat trips along the country’s Mediterranean and Aegean coasts.
