In Beşiktaş, 29 people lost their lives in a fire that broke out in a 16-story building, while 1 person was severely injured. According to the information received, a fire broke out in the building located on Yıldız Posta Street, Gündoğdu Sokak in Gayrettepe for reasons yet unknown.

Upon notification, fire brigade, health, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Police teams took precautions in the surrounding area. Firefighting teams intervened in the fire on the minus 1 and minus 2 floors of the building, which were used as a club, with 31 vehicles and 86 personnel. The Istanbul Governorship announced that an investigation had been launched into the fire.

Investigation Launched

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that an investigation had been launched into the fire that occurred in Gayrettepe, Istanbul.

Yerlikaya stated in a social media post, “An investigation has been launched into the fire that occurred in Gayrettepe, Beşiktaş, Istanbul. I extend my condolences to those who lost their lives and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. We will continue to share developments with the public regarding the matter.”
