Minister Şimşek warns homeowners to submit their declarations by April 5th to avoid any penalties

Minister Şimşek issued a warning to homeowners who earn rental income to declare their income, stating, “We remind taxpayers who have rental income exceeding the exemption amount of 21,000 TL for the year 2023 to submit their declarations by April 5th to avoid any penalties.”

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made a statement regarding the declaration of rental income on his social media account, saying, “We remind taxpayers who have rental income exceeding the exemption amount of 21,000 TL for the year 2023 to submit their declarations by April 5th to avoid any penalties.”

He went on to say following as well:

“Our Revenue Administration utilizes administrative records (title deed, population registry, etc.) and technological capabilities at the highest level to identify taxpayers who earn rental income but fail to declare it.

We have conducted on-site inspections for approximately 420,000 out of 1.2 million real estates included in our audit plan. We continue our field inspections and inform our taxpayers.

We remind taxpayers who have rental income exceeding the exemption amount of 21,000 TL for the year 2023 to submit their declarations by April 5th to avoid any penalties.

We are strengthening our fight against informal economy for fair competition and fiscal discipline.”
