COVID19 BANS TO BE REMOVED IN TURKEY

Today’s cabinet meeting, chaired by President Tayyip Erdogan, will focus on loosening the COVID-19 measures and accelerating vaccination. After the Cabinet meeting, which will start at 15.00, Erdogan will announce the decisions taken.

Based on information provided by officials the 22:00 hours restriction during the weeks and on Saturdays is expected to be changed to a later hour and the street restriction imposed on Sundays will be lifted.

An official said that the number of daily cases, which had climbed to 60,000 had come down to 5,000 with the measures taken and vaccination adding “the measures have begun to be effective. We’re getting results. Loosening the current measures will be on the cabinet agenda.”

The same official noted that all necessary measures had been taken to ensure that the vaccination, which is 1.5 million per day, goes at the same pace and is further increased.

“Vaccination is going extremely well. There are no problems with the provision of vaccines” the same official said adding “Younger groups would also start getting vaccinated soon.”

“The reduction of COVID measures with acceleration in vaccination will be considered at the Cabinet meeting” another official said.
