For a comfortable journey from Istanbul to Izmir .. Catch Idobus

Istanbul is the heart of Turkey.. On the other hand Izmir is the major city in the Aegean region which is the tourism center of Turkey.. Needless to say millions of people travel between these two destinations each and every year..

The problem though is the  distance between them and one would need about 6-7 hours to drive from Istanbul down to Izmir. Bus services are no faster either.. As for flights, they might not be avilable any moment or satisfactory..

Now, IDO company, a former subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the company with the largest fleet of ships in the world has started a brand new service which is supposed to make life much easier for those who wish to travel between said two destinations.

The company has connected land and sea transportation by has launching its Istanbul-Izmir route as of March 22.

IDOBUS carries passengers from Kabataş-Istanbul to the port of Bursa via ferries in 90 minutes where

passengers are transferred to buses (provided by travel companies but work for IDOBUS) which carry passengersfurther  to Balıkesir, Manisa and Izmir and thus shorten the duration of travel from Istanbul to Izmir by 1.5 hours.

There are 13 fares per day from Istanbul to Izmir and vice versa and one fare almost every hour at peak times.  IDOBUS is supposed to function like a railway between the cities and that the number of destinations are expected to be increased to the extent of its success as a transportation system.

Transportation with IDOBUS will not only save passengers time, but also contribute to the prevention of traffic congestion and air pollution.
