Foreign exchange deposits held in Turkish banks exceed US$ 235 billion

As exchange rates set new records, foreign exchange deposits in Turkish banks have increased by another $ 2 billion. The record for total foreign currency deposits was set in the 10 September trading week, exceeding US$ 238 billion.

According to the Central Bank’s data, foreign currency deposits increased to $ 235.17 billion in the week of November 12. In the week of November 5, this figure was realized as 233.30 billion dollars.

In the week of November 12, when the dollar had not yet exceeded 10 liras, the foreign currency deposits of real persons (individuals) increased by 847 million dollars to US$ 143.7 billion.

Foreign currency deposits of legal entities increased by $ 1 billion to $ 91.5 billion.

There is an increase of 234 million dollars in foreign currency deposits of individuals and 1.25 billion dollars in foreign currency deposits of legal entities. Based on this data, the ratio of foreign currency deposits to total deposits became 55.2 percent.
