ERDOGAN IN FOREIGN POLICY MAGAZINE

As the debate continues about the cost of living in Turkey and President Erdogan’s economic policies, the US-based Foreign Policy magazine has published a striking analysis of the President’s interventions against the Central Bank. “The independence of the central bank in Turkey is now in danger of extinction,” the article said.

US-based Foreign Policy, one of the world’s leading magazines, cited President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as an example in a report in which in which it said autocrat leaders undermined the independence of central banks by taking advantage of Covid-19.

According to Foreign Policy, some objections to the independence of central banks in the world have been raised during the pandemic process, noting that Covid-19 conditions have also allowed some countries to take steps in this regard.  “The independence of the central bank in Turkey is now in danger of disappearing,” the article said, noting that autocrat leaders around the world have recently re-interpreted the policies of central banks.
