Forest Fire in Hatay, Turkey: “Governor asks for support”

The forest fire that broke out in the Belen district of Hatay is being extinguished with the intervention of teams from the air and land.

A fire broke out in a wooded area of the Soğukoluk Neighborhood. Upon notification, a large number of land and Forestry Regional Directorate teams were dispatched to the region by firefighting helicopter.

Teams are continuing to respond from the air and land to the fire that broke out near the settlements.

In a ststement to media Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı said, “our teams from the air and land are responding to the forest fire in Sogukoluk. We have also requested support teams from the surrounding provinces. We have evacuated our citizens in the settlements in the area.”

UPDATE: The fire in Hatay spread to residential units. So far, 3 houses have burned down. A neighborhood is also being evacuated. 21 Helicopters, 9 aircraft, 59 land surveyors were dispatched to the region. The struggle continues…
