Forest fires in five provinces brought under control; fires in three provinces continuing

Forest fires in Bingol, Adana, Mersin, Muğla and Aydın were brought under control. The fight against the fires in Kütahya, Uşak and Manisa is continuing.

A fire broke out in a wooded area in between the village of Küreci and the village of Samrik in the Emet district of Kütahya for an as yet unknown reason.

A large number of ground crews, as well as firefighting helicopters and aircraft, were dispatched to the area upon notification of those in the vicinity. Crews are continuing to contain the fire.

“The fire is continuing in the form of a hill fire,” Forest Regional Director Birol Dundar said, adding that they had requested a firefighting aircraft and helicopter. At the moment, work is underway to control the fire” he said.
