Founder of the crypto currency exchange Thodex was captured in Albania

Faruk Fatih Özer, fugitive CEO of Crypto money exchange Thodex was captured in Albania and the extradition process was initiated. Due to the closure of the Thodex company, investors who had money on the stock exchange could not withdraw their money. The chief prosecutor in Istanbul had launched an investigation on April 22, 2021.

Özer, who was wanted with a red bulletin, was last seen when he entered a hotel in Albania, and then it was announced that his trail was lost. Although Ozer said that he would return to Turkey, he was never heard from again.

The related indictment that requires a jail term of about 40,562 years for 21 suspects was accepted by 9th High Criminal Court on April 5, 2022.

In the indictment, it was recorded that all customers had lost 356 million 980 thousand 554 liras, and 2 thousand 27 of the 2 thousand 72 complaining customers lost a total of 257 million 862 thousand 432 liras. It was revealed that Özer transferred his assets to domestic and foreign crypto currency exchanges, and converted some into gold.

Özer had informed in April that he wanted to take advantage of the effective regret law.
