“Four-scenario” poll says Erdogan cannot beat Yavas, Mayor of Ankara
Poll results shared by Metropol Research company poll has shown that Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur YAVAS is decisively ahead of President Tayyip ERDOGAN.
The general election is 13 months away. Opposition parties want an early election, while the government says these discussions are now over with the election arrangement.
With the new regulation, the electoral threshold was reduced to 7 percent. The regulation also eliminates the pool of alliances, a practice (supposed to be) in favor of the government.
Researchers suggest that support for alliance in power is decreasing. Polls also show the AKP’s partner, the MHP, at just over 7 percent (which is the threshold). The increase in the minimum wage also failed to prevent the decline in the AKP after inflation set records.
On the other hand, discussions about who the opposition will nominate to challenge Erdogan in presidential election, keep their place on the agenda. After the statements shared by Umit OZDAG, the leader of the Victory Party, the name of Mansur YAVAS came on the agenda.
“Explanations/statements made, are beyond my knowledge. I will continue my mission as mayor of Ankara” Yavaş had said about the issue. Another prominent name is Ekrem IMAMOGLU, the President of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, who said, “KILICDAROGLU is my candidate, too,” but neither name is out of the equation. Meral AKSENER, the leader of the GOOD Party, is also one of the prominent figures.
