An aquaculture professor from AKDENIZ University (AU) drew attention to the heavy metal pollution in the cliffs and KONYAALTI coast of Antalya saying “Antalya is not in good condition in terms of metal pollution. There’s a lot of metal in the sea. These need to be collected and taken away. It can be taken with a simple dive. There are trucks full, trucks full of metal down there.”

The professor at the faculty of aquaculture of AU, who continues his research on underwater creatures and underwater pollution in Antalya, warned against metal pollution in the cliffs area in central Antalya and on the KONYAALTI coast.

But in these difficult days, you know, a lot of our people are in economic trouble, and a lot of our people can get income from here. I mean, the law probably doesn’t allow it, but because the law doesn’t allow it, we should not have to leave as it is.

This needs to be intervened. These metals are at a distance that can be extracted, most of them on the coast. It can be taken with a simple dive. There are trucks full of metal down there. I recored a large portion of them. This work needs to be started as soon as possible.”
