German Travel Association: Turkey Tops Package Holiday Sales

The German Travel Association announced that Turkey had become the most popular package holiday destination in Germany for this tourism season.

According to the travel trends report presented by the German Travel Association (DRV) ahead of the ITB Berlin Fair, Turkey is the most popular package tour destination in Germany for the 2024 season. The report noted that especially families have been making reservations for Turkey in large numbers.

SPAIN RANKS SECOND, GREECE THIRD

While Spain has slipped to second place in package tour sales in Germany, it was noted that Mallorca saw the largest share of package holiday sales to Spain with a 29% increase. Spain is followed by Greece and Egypt.

It was announced that all destinations experienced double-digit increases in package holiday sales in Germany, with the countries recording the highest increases being the UAE with 47%, the USA with 42%, Turkey with 39%, and Portugal with 36%.

COMBINED SHARE OF GREECE AND TURKEY IN PACKAGE HOLIDAY SALES INCREASES FROM 36 % TO 44%

Additionally, it was stated that Greece, along with Turkey, is becoming increasingly popular in Germany, with the combined share of these two countries in package holiday sales increasing from 36% to 44%.
