German Travel Association: Turkey tops the list of most booked holiday destinations
It has been reported that Turkey has surpassed Spain to take the top spot among the 10 most booked holiday destinations from Germany. According to a statement from the German Travel Association (DRV), early booking figures for holiday packages in Germany saw a 30% increase by the end of January compared to the previous year.
The statement noted that despite reservations increasing by 11% compared to the summer of 2019, reservations are still 17% below pre-COVID-19 levels.
The statement reported that Turkey ranked first among the 10 most booked holiday destinations from Germany for this year’s summer holiday season. It was mentioned, “For the summer of 2024, Turkey and the Antalya region are currently the most popular package holiday destinations, surpassing Spain. The country on the shores of the Istanbul Strait is particularly popular among families with children.”
The statement also mentioned that Turkey was followed by Spain, Greece, and Egypt in terms of popularity.
