Giant hike in taxes, fees and penalties in 2023

If President Recep Tayyip Erdogan does not use the reduction authority, Motor Vehicle Tax, driver’s license-passport fees and traffic fines will increase at this rate in 2023.
The increase in taxes, fees and penalties in 2023 is becoming clear. According to the data of TURKSTAT, inflation was announced as 3.54 percent on a monthly basis and 85.51 percent on an annual basis in October. With October’s inflation, the revaluation rate was also determined. Accordingly, if a new decision is not taken, taxes and fees will increase by 122.93 percent if no other decision is taken.
HOW MANY PERCENT WILL TAXES, FEES AND PENALTIES INCREASE IN 2023?
The Turkish Statistical Institute has announced the data based on the revaluation rate for the year 2023 to be applied to taxes, fees and penalties for the year 2022.

In October, the Domestic Producer Price Index (PPI) increased by 122.93 percent compared to the 12-month average.

In accordance with the Tax Procedure Law, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has the authority to reduce the revaluation rate of taxes and fees by 50 percent and increase it by 50 percent. In the Motor Vehicle Tax, the President’s authority to increase is 50 percent, but the authority to reduce is at the level of 80 percent. In the case of penalties, the announced revaluation rates cannot be changed.

DRIVING LICENSE FEES FOR THE YEAR 2023
If a law change is not made by the end of the year regarding the President’s discount authority, the driver’s license fees will be as follows;
The class A driver’s license fee will increase from 370.40 TL to 825.73 TL.
The class B driver’s license fee will increase from a thousand 116.90 TL to 2 thousand 489.90 TL.
