Global politics: Erdogan and Putin to meet tomorrow

President Erdogan and Russian President Putin will meet tomorrow in Astana. The meeting will take place during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, which will be held in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana. This news was reported by the Russian state news agency, TASS.

After taking office for the fifth time as Russia’s president, Putin made his first overseas visit to China, where he last met with Xi in May.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, established in 2001 by China and Russia, is a Eurasian political, economic, international security, and defense organization.

Other full members include India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Although Turkey is not a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, it frequently attends meetings as a “dialogue partner.”
