Gold, often seen as a “safe haven,” is hitting record highs due to concerns over the potential effects of the new customs tax policy. Today, the price of gold per ounce reached $3,000, setting a new record. The price of gram gold also reached a historic level, hitting 3,550 Turkish lira.

Gold is surging due to geopolitical risks, growing uncertainty, and concerns about the possible consequences of the U.S. government’s new customs tax policy.

Record Year for Gold Prices

Gold began the year at $2,620 per ounce, gaining approximately $380 since the start of 2024. The price of gold has set multiple records this year, following a 27% increase last year and a 17% rise this year.

Gram Gold Hits Historic Level

The new customs tax policy of U.S. President Donald Trump has been one of the strongest factors influencing gold prices. Following developments in the price of gold per ounce, the price of gram gold in Turkey also started the day with a new record. In the Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı), the price of gram gold increased by 1.4%, reaching 3,550 Turkish lira.
