While the tension experienced on the Ankara-Athens line recently escalated with President Erdogan’s speech at the UN General Assembly, new statements came from Greek Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsotakis.

Reactions to speech made by Erdogan at the UN General Assembly are continuing in Greece. Reacting to Greece in his speech Erdogan had said, “While we are struggling to prevent the bodies of Aylan babies from hitting the shores, Greece is turning the Aegean into a refugee cemetery with its illegal, reckless pushback.” Erdogan, showing a photo of children whose boats sank and drowned in the Aegean, said that Greece’s atrocities against migrants in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean were gradually increasing.

While Erdogan’s words caused reactions in Greece, a new statement came from Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsotakis. The Greek Prime Minister said he would give his response to Erdogan’s accusations in a speech to the UN General Assembly on Friday.

MITSOTAKIS: NO ONE CAN BULLY GREECE

Meeting with foreign guests yesterday in New York, where he was for a UN meeting, Mitsotakis said, “No one can bully Greece. I will say the rest at the UN on Friday.”
