Head of Turkish Exporters Assembly: We don’t expect a hard landing for the economy

Exporters aren’t seeing any indications that would make them fear a looming crisis in Turkey, said Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) head Mehmet Buyukeksi on Tuesday.

Exporters don’t foresee a hard landing for the economy, he said, adding that TIM supports the Central Bank’s monetary policy decisions.

Noting that the Turkish lira recently hit an 8-month low of 1.734 against the US dollar, Buyukeksi stressed that a value between 1.60 and 1.70 should be seen as the norm. “If the currency rate remains at these levels, Turkey’s exports will become more advantageous, while our imports could be curbed,” he said.
