Entrances to Istanbul and departures from bus stations have been stopped

Ali Yerlikaya, the Governor of Istanbul, has announced that the entry of vehicles into Istanbul from the direction of Thrace has been stopped. Yerlikaya announced the decision that “the exits at Esenler, Harem and all mobile bus stations have been stopped until 08.00 tomorrow”. The heavy snow continues to have an impact in Istanbul.

“Vehicles traveling from the direction of Thrace to the direction of Istanbul will not be allowed to enter our city due to heavy snowfall,” Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya said in a statement.

On his Twitter account the governor said following: “Dear Drivers, until a second announcement vehicles traveling from the direction of Thrace to the direction of Istanbul will not be allowed to enter our city due to heavy snowfall. It is important that you do not leave from the direction of Thrace (meaning towards Istanbul).”
