Last minute / Statement from Energy Minister regarding  current “graded electricity tariff”

Regarding the “graded electricity tariff”, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez, said,”If there is a real need, we can make amendment to the consumption limit. We don’t have a (strict) rule for 150 kilowatt-hours.”

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez made a statement after strong reaction from citizens regarding the high electricity bills they received. The Minister said,”If there is a real need, we can make amendment to the consumption limit.”

MINISTER MAKES STATEMENT ABOUT NATURAL GAS RESTRICTION

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez made statements about the agenda on the live broadcast he attended.

Referring to the interruption related to natural gas coming from Iran, Dönmez made the following statements; “As of January 20, they terminated the stream. We have been facing this problem for 3 days. How do we get through the 10-day process by making some sacrifices by contacting our industry and employers in the first place? We have done its planning. Currently, our industry has reached a very good level in terms of production capacity. Of course, this has been a situation that we have not been able to control. We sent a team headed by our deputy minister to Iran over the weekend. We said, ’Let’s delay if possible, let’s leave it until after winter, let’s shorten it if possible, let the flow begin’. They said they would work as hard as possible.

“THEY ARE EVALUATING THE CONDITIONS”

They are evaluating the conditions to see if there may be a gas flow again. We have attempted to have the issue worked out as soon as possible. Similar weather conditions affect the western side of Iran. Let’s hope that soon we’ll figure out a way.

IS NATURAL GAS CUT OFF BECAUSE OF DEBT?

We don’t owe Iran anything. In any case, no such statement has been made from the opposite side. We have received reports that domestic demand is increasing in Iran and there is such an interruption, but we are not in a position to officially confirm this.
