The General Directorate of Highways (KGM) has announced that many land roads have been closed to traffic due to heavy snowfall. “Vehicles traveling from the direction of Thrace to the direction of Istanbul will not be allowed to enter our city due to heavy snowfall,” Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya said in a statement.

Due to the danger of heavy snowfall and icing at around 17.00 last night, the D-100 Highway Bolu Mountain Tunnel location Ankara-Istanbul direction was closed. At about 06:00 in the morning, the D-100 Highway was reopened to traffic under controlled conditions with the snow plowing and salting work of the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) teams.

KGM shared that the D-100 Highway was opened. “The D-100 State Road between Istanbul and Ankara has been opened to traffic for all vehicles in both directions,” the DEC said in a statement.
