Health Minister heralds 10 million doses of Sinovac and 90 million doses of BioNTech

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has announced that 10 million doses of the Chinese vaccine will be in Turkey this week. He added 90 million doses of BioNTech vaccine would arrive until Autumn.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca stated that social immunity in Turkey could be caught in the middle of the summer if the vaccination calendar goes ahead as planned. Minister Koca also shared that co-founder of BioNTech Prof. Dr. Uğur SAHIN would come to Turkey in early June to support the vaccination campaign.

Answering questions after the Cabinet meeting, Fahrettin Koca said, “We expect a serious amount of vaccine to come from China later this week.” China had given Turkey permission to produce the Sinovac vaccine, while Minister Koca said that production could not occur in the short term.

“90 MILLION DOSES OF BIONTECH WILL COME”

Health Minister Koca shared that 30 million doses of BioNTech vaccine would be delivered in June, and another 60 million doses by September.

BIONTECH CO-FOUNDER COMES TO TURKEY

Uğur Şahin, who developed the BioNTech vaccine, will also attend the Science Board Meeting to be held online on Thursday and will personally inform about the procurement process. Co-founder of the German biotech firm BioNTech, Prof. Dr. SAHIN will be in Turkey in early June to support the vaccination campaign.
