Health Minister KOCA makes statement: Three fold increase in Delta variant!

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has made statements regarding most recent situation about  Coronavirus outbreak. He said the delta variant had been detected in 750 people in 36 provinces.

Except for 3 cases in 3 provinces identified, the new delta plus variant was not identified.

THE TOTAL NUMBER OF CASES IS ALSO ON THE RISE

The Minister said, “When we look at last week, we see that the number of cases that should fall is not falling, the weekend is close to 20 percent increase compared to the previous weekend,” noting the increase in the total number of cases.

Koca said the increase was seen in provinces with low rate of vaccination, such as Diyarbakir, Sirnak, Adiyaman.

FOURTH WAVE WARNING

Stressing the importance of vaccination in dealing with the outbreak, the Health Minister also issued a fourth wave warning.

“There’s no such situation at the moment but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen,” he said. It is possible to prevent the fourth wave with intensive vaccination and social immunity.

WILL THE VACCINE BE MANDATORY?

Fahrettin Koca also noted that when social immunity reaches 70 or 80 percent, the epidemic will end and there will be a return to normal life.

He replied to the question “But will the vaccine be mandatory if the epidemic increases again? ” as follows: As the authority, we do not want to have an obligation on our agenda. We rather want to use a method of persuading citizens. We need to go to the feet of our citizens and be in the circuit with more mobile, intensive teams.”
