Health Minister Koca says Turkey to start vaccination in December 2020

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has said, “We want to start the vaccine intensively in December. A $ 50 million contract was signed. We plan to switch to the domestic vaccine in April. If everything is normal, we will first give the vaccine to health workers on December 11.”

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca answered the questions of journalists in the Parliament. Minister Koca said vaccination applications would begin after December 11. He added that the vaccination would start with health workers, while the Science Board has implemented a strategy for who will apply the vaccine.

Minister Koca also gave information about the domestic vaccine and said “The first phase of the domestic vaccine will be finished on December 14-15, and in April 3 we think it can be moved to the 3rd stage.”

The Minister also shared that the domestic vaccine was also an inactive vaccine. Koca noted that the inactive vaccine is more cost-effective, but stressed that its reliability is also greater.
