HEALTH TOURISM IN TURKEY

In the panel titled “Health Tourism and its Future in Turkey and in the World” organized by ATILIM University, health tourism was discussed. At the meeting, it was suggested that Turkey should not be stuck between hair transplantation and aesthetics and should also focus on value-added treatment areas such as oncology and cardiology.

In SAİD panel, health tourism which is currently $ 100 billion and is expected to be $ 300 billion in 2027, was discussed. Dean of Faculty of Business Administration at said university said that Turkey had entered among the top 10 preferred destinations in health tourism. The moderator of the panel Prof. Dr. Dilaver TENGILIMOGLU on the other hand, noted that the main goal was to permanently place Turkey among the top 5 countries in the world in the field of health tourism.

TURKEY TO FOCUS ON VALUE-ADDED TREATMENT AREAS IN HEALTH TOURISM

At the meeting, it was suggested that Turkey should not be stuck between hair transplantation and aesthetics and should also focus on value-added treatment areas such as oncology and cardiology.

The Dean of Faculty of Business Administration noted that the size of health tourism worldwide was estimated between US dollars 50-100. Drawing attention to the fact that the authorities predicted the annual growth of health tourism by 20 percent, he noted that Turkey was among the top 10 preferred destinations in this area.

TURKEY’S HEALTH TOURISM REVENUE REACHED US$ 705 MILLION IN 2021

He shared information that Turkey’s health tourism revenue had been $ 705 million last year, adding hospital chains in Turkey had also recently opened diagnostic centers abroad and concentrated on these areas. He emphasized that chain hospitals had a 50-60 percent cost advantage over their competitors abroad, the number of accredited enterprises had reached 31 and healthcare services could be accessed much faster in Turkey.

Prof. TENGILIMOGLU who moderated the panel gave information that the average income, which was 850 dollars in normal tourism, varied between 630-10 thousand dollars in health tourism.
