Turkey’s shoe sector exports $ 1 billion in 10 months this year, targets $ 1.2 billion at year end

Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association (IDMIB) President Güven Karaca said “The footwear sector which has exported 317.8 million pairs worth $ 1 billion in the 10 months of this year, aims to close the year with exports of $ 1.2 billion.”

Eksposhoes Shoe Fashion Fair was held in Serik district of Antalya. Giving information about the fair and the sector, which was attended by more than 800 foreign buyers from 45 countries, IDMIB President Güven Karaca explained that there was serious demand on the footwear sector from Europe.

“THERE IS A VERY SERIOUS DEMAND FOR TURKISH SHOES”

He also shared following: “There is a very serious demand for Turkish shoes from Europe. If we solve our scale problem in production, we can come to very different points in shoe exports in a few years. As IDMIB, we are sending a delegation to Vietnam and Cambodia. We will see the points they came to in production on the spot.”

Drawing attention to the acceleration in shoe exports, Karaca said, “The shoe sector, which has exported $ 1 billion with 317.8 million pairs in the 10 months of this year, aims to close the year with exports of $ 1.2 billion. We have captured the total export of 2021 in footwear in the 10th month of this year.”
