HOT WEATHER IN TURKEY

If you’re planning to be out and about in Turkey today, you might want to double-check the skies—and your sunscreen. The Turkish State Meteorological Service has just rolled out a dual warning: expect heavy rainfall in some regions and sweltering temperatures in others, starting today.

Storms in the North, Sunshine in the West

Northern parts of Turkey—including the Central and Eastern Black Sea regions, parts of Eastern Anatolia, and the eastern side of Central Anatolia—are in for stormy weather. Localized heavy downpours and thunderstorms are expected, especially in provinces like Giresun and Ordu, which are under an official orange alert. That’s just one step below red, so authorities are urging caution for flash floods and waterlogging.

Muğla & Antalya: Here Comes the Heat

If you’re lounging in Muğla or soaking up the sun in Antalya, brace yourself—it’s going to be a scorcher. Antalya is sitting at a toasty 37°C today under clear, sunny skies. That classic Mediterranean heat is here to stay. No storms, no clouds—just pure sunshine.

While Muğla isn’t listed individually in the full forecast, neighboring provinces like Denizli (38°C) and Manisa (39°C) give a pretty good idea of what Muğla can expect—intense heat and dry conditions. So if you’re planning beach time, hiking, or just a stroll around the harbor, definitely stay hydrated and avoid being outdoors during the hottest part of the day (roughly between 11 AM and 4 PM).

Istanbul & Western Turkey: Turning Up the Heat

Things are heating up out west. Istanbul is expected to reach 31°C, with forecasts climbing higher through the week—possibly peaking at 34°C by mid-July. The Istanbul Governorship has issued a heat alert, asking vulnerable groups like children, seniors, and those with chronic illnesses to avoid direct sun during peak hours.

Izmir – 37°C and sunny. Edirne? 37°C. Manisa? A blistering 39°C. Basically, if you’re anywhere west of Ankara, get ready to sweat.

Inland cities like Ankara (30°C) and Eskişehir (32°C) are enjoying warm but manageable weather. Meanwhile, Eastern Anatolia and parts of the northeast, like Erzurum and Artvin, are looking much cooler, with temperatures hovering between 17°C and 23°C. But they’re also dealing with rain—heavy at times.

In Summary

  • Rain and storms: Expect them in the northeast and Central Anatolia’s eastern edges.
  • Severe alerts: Giresun and Ordu are on orange alert for downpours and potential flooding.
  • Hot spots: The western and southern regions, including Muğla and Antalya, are under a heat wave with temps around or above 37°C.
  • Advice: Stay cool, stay indoors during peak heat, and watch out for fast-changing weather—especially if you’re in northern or mountainous regions.
