‘Heavy rainfall’ warning for Marmara from Istanbul Governor’s Office: “Let’s be cautious”

A heavy rainfall warning has been issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) for the Marmara Region starting tonight. “After the night hours today, locally heavy downpours and thundery downpours are expected on the Anatolian Side of Istanbul until Saturday evening,” the Istanbul Governor’s Office warned.

MGM Istanbul Regional Forecasting and Early Warning Center said in a statement; Torrential and thundery downpours (21-50 kg/ m2) are expected in the Marmara Region (Tekirdağ, south of Edirne and on the Anatolian side of Istanbul) after night hours today

Authorities said citizens should be cautious against flash flooding, flooding, lightning, local hail and strong wind at the time of precipitation.
