Twenty suspects were detained for scamming hundreds of people by promising “cheap hotel/villa reservations.”

It was discovered that 20 suspects, who advertised “zero-interest credit, cheap product sales, and cheap hotel/villa reservations” through social media platforms, defrauded 272 people across Turkey, amassing a total of 17.5 million TL. In a simultaneous operation centered in Afyonkarahisar and carried out in Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Eskişehir, Muğla, Nevşehir, and Samsun, the suspects were arrested.

It was determined that the suspects tried to launder the money they scammed by transferring it into cryptocurrency systems. During the search of their homes, numerous digital materials, bank and credit cards belonging to other individuals, personal identification information of citizens, selfie photos, passwords for cryptocurrency accounts, and mobile banking applications were seized.

Following legal procedures, four of the 20 suspects were released after being questioned by the prosecutor, while eight of the 16 brought to court were arrested, and the remaining eight were released under judicial control.
