Hunger limit in Turkey increases to 9 thousand 234 TL in February

The hunger limit, which reached 8 thousand 782 liras in the first month of the year, and exceeded the minimum wage, increased to TL 9 thousand 234 pounds in February. The poverty line, which covers all monthly expenses of a family, increased by 1500 TL in February compared to the previous month and increased to 31 thousand 939 TL.

United Metal-Business Research Center (BISAM) has announced the hunger and poverty line data for February 2023.

Accordingly, the hunger limit, which refers to the amount of monthly expenses that a family of four needs to make for a healthy and balanced diet, increased to 9 thousand 234 TL in February.

The poverty line, which covers all monthly expenses of a family such as rent, bills, transportation, education, health, clothing, reached 31 thousand 939 TL in February.

BISAM had announced that the hunger limit passed the minimum wage in the first month of the year (January 2023). In January, the hunger limit was calculated as 8 thousand 782 pounds.

DAILY SPENDING REQUIREMENT EXCEEDS 300 LIRAS

The monthly equivalent of the foods that an adult man should consume for a healthy and balanced diet was 2,385 liras. This value stood out as 2,276 liras for an adult woman, 2,471 for a teenager aged 15-18 and 1,651 for a child aged 4-6.

The cost of eating in a healthy way to the total family budget was found to be 8 thousand 782 liras

MILK AND DAIRY PRODUCTS:  HIGHEST COST GROUP

Milk and dairy products group formed the highest cost group in daily expenses in February 2023 with an expenditure requirement of 115.41 liras. The minimum spending amount required for the meat, chicken and fish group was 53.74 liras; the daily spending amount required for vegetables and fruits reached 52 liras.
