Identity cards will be used as credit cards

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu has announced that 80 percent of the work on installing a payment system on identity cards has been completed. Referring to the unification of identity card and driver’s license in the ‘Population Personnel Training Program’ organized at the Van Police Department, Minister Soylu said:

“Our friends are very good at software. We trust them. Let me put it this way, we’ve been doing uploading, and over 3 million driver’s licenses have been uploaded to ID. That was not enough, we also wanted to take a step forward with an e-signature. Because it’s very important as it will ensur that the electronic system completely enters everyday life, they also said that this would not happen. We brought this to the finish line, as well. As a result, we gave a certain date and thanks God we have shown the ability to upload the e-signature to our identity cards right now.”

Payment system will be integrated on our identity cards

Soylu explained that as the third step, a payment system will be installed on ID cards: “Thirdly, I wonder if we can install a payment system on our IDs? We’ve done 80 percent of the work. And this is something new. So we have ID cards. We are currently processing a transaction that can be used as a credit card. There are countries in the world that use it.”
