Identity of terrorist who dropped the bomb in Istiklal Street announced
Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu announced that the person who had dropped the bomb that caused the explosion on Istiklal Street had been captured. The Istanbul Police announced the identity and nationality of the attacker.
A bomb left on a bank next to a concrete flower pot on Istiklal Street in Istanbul yesterday at 16.13 took the lives of six people, two of them children, and 81 people were injured.
After the terrorist attack, the Istanbul Police Department went on alert. The teams examined the security camera recordings. The suspect who dropped the bomb was identified as a woman.
Information about the woman, who was dressed in a shawl, leather jacket and camouflage pants on her head, was reported to all teams. While searching the area, the camera recordings were examined.
As the direction of the woman was deciphered, new images were searched for in the direction of departure. A backward image scan was also performed to determine the direction of arrival.
TEM POLICE IDENTIFIES VEHICLES USED AND MANAGES TO CATCH THE SUSPECT
After hours of work, the Istanbul Anti-Terrorism Branch Directorate and the Intelligence Branch units identified the vehicles used by the woman and the address she went to. The address was raided by the Special Operations police and TEM operation team.
TEM police managed to catch the suspect. In addition, those who aided and abetted the woman were also detained. During the searches, a pistol, a large number of bullets, a quantity of foreign currency, gold and Turkish lira were found. A bomb-finding trained detector dog was also used at the address.
